The X Factor star claimed she decided to use the phrase because her mum used to say it and insisted it was a ‘positive’ name.

She told Daybreak: ‘When I was growing up my mum always did the whole ‘sticks and stones’ and ‘whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

‘She used to say things like this to me and I just thought what a brilliant title – and I had that in my head for a long time and I knew that I wanted to use it.’

She added: ‘There were some ‘ifs’ and ‘ahs’ about it and people saying do you really want to call it that because it’s a bit negative? But I like to look at it in a positive way.’

This week the singer, 18, told The Daily Star that she would often break down in tears at home because of the criticism she was receiving from the public.

She said: ‘I know people think I’m a b**** but they don’t realise I put on a massive front. When I go home and close the door I break down, phone my mum and dad and cry.

‘It got to the point when I thought ‘Why am I doing this?”

Cher claimed she thought about quitting music after her debut single Swagger Jagger was badly received – even though it later went to number one.

‘I’m getting s**t off everyone and I’m scared to even go out of my front door. I thought ‘F*** it, I don’t want to do this anymore. And I don’t want to lie about it anymore either.

‘I think I need to let people know I’m not as strong as I pretend to be. I put up a big barrier because I don’t want people to think I’m having a breakdown or that I can’t handle the pressure.’

Cher Lloyd’s latest single ‘With Ur Love’ is fighting for the Number One spot in this week’s charts.

The singer’s second release is currently a narrow 1,000 copies ahead of Professor Green’s current chart-topper ‘Read All About It’, according to early midweek figures.

But Green’s track, which features Emeli Sande on guest vocals, is predicted by insiders to overtake Cher’s effort in time for the final tally on Sunday because it is outselling the ‘Swagger Jagger’ star’s effort on various online retailers.

‘With Ur Love’, which features Mike Posner, is no doubt enjoying the benefits of being performed on The X Factor at the weekend.

Speaking to Daybreak on ITV1 this morning, Cher said of her rendition: “It felt a little bit like I was back, properly back in the competition in a way…I had more nerves than what I did when I was back on the show.”

Of her debut album Sticks + Stones, which is released next week, she added: “When I was growing up my mum always did the whole ‘sticks and stones’ and ‘whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’. She used to say things like this to me and I just thought what a brilliant title – and I had that in my head for a long time and I knew that I wanted to use it.

“There were some ‘ifs’ and ‘ahs’ about it, and people saying do you really want to call it that because it’s a bit negative? But I like to look at it in a positive way.”

With all the controversy around her, it definitely seems an apt title…

She’s only 18, and she’s only just at the start of her pop career, but Cher Lloyd is already thinking about settling down. Ahhhh…

The With Ur Love singer – who retuned to the X Factor as a guest performer last night – is so loved up with her boyfriend Craig Monk that she’s convinced he’s the one she’ll spend the rest of her life with. “We’re living together, we’re very settled. This is it. You won’t ever hear of me having another boyfriend,” Cher tells The Mirror.
“My life is f**king sorted. It’s cushty. I’m rubbing my hands like an emperor. I’m on top of the world. I hope one day we’ll be married and having kids.” Which, apart from the slightly potty emperor comments, is actually very cute.
But Cher’s joy at getting her love life sorted doesn’t end there, the singer also said, “Some days I feel like I could run for miles screaming, ‘Thank f**k’ at the top of my lungs. I can’t believe I’ve fallen on my feet like this.”

House hunting
Where will Cher, Craig and their babies live? Cher admits that while she’s no raking in the cash just yet, she plans to buy herself a house – and a modest one at that.
“My life hasn’t changed too much yet with money and things. I’m a big believer in saving money. I won’t be going out and spending. I haven’t bought anything of worth. The first thing I want to do is buy a house, reveals Cher. “Not big. I just want a detached house with a front door, four windows and a chimney pot. That’s what I’ve always wanted. I like things to aim for and that’s the one I’m working for. I’ve never wanted ¬anything handed to me on a plate.”

Cher Lloyd has revealed that she is terrified of failing to crack America.

The ‘Swagger Jagger’ singer has long been interested in targeting the US music industry, but is plagued with concerns about whether her music “will work” stateside.

“America is something I’m going to do,” she told The Sunday Mirror. “But I want to do well out there. I’ve got big dreams. Even though I’ve achieved [success in the UK], there’s so much more I want to do.

“America is such a big thing to try and do. If I did try and do it I don’t want to be rejected. I want to be the one to succeed and make it work. I’m no Robbie Williams.”

However, Lloyd stated that she would never compromise her musical beliefs in order to achieve success, even if her mentor Simon Cowell insisted on making changes.

“I would have told Simon or whoever to p**s off if they handed me 20 songs and said sing them for this album,” she said. “No way would I have done that.”

Lloyd’s debut album Sticks & Stones is due for release in the UK on November 7.

The record’s second single ‘With Ur Love’ will be made available after Lloyd performs the track on The X Factor tonight (October 30).

Cher Lloyd has revealed she has found the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

She may only have been dating trainee hairdresser Craig Monk, 21, for a matter of months, but she has absolutely no doubts that he is Mr Right.

In her most revealing interview yet, the 18-year-old singer tells me: “We’re living together, we’re very settled. This is it. You won’t ever hear of me having another boyfriend.

“My life is f***ing sorted. It’s cushty. I’m rubbing my hands like an emperor. I’m on top of the world. I hope one day we’ll be married and having kids.

“Some days I feel like I could run for miles screaming, ‘Thank f***’ at the top of my lungs. I can’t believe I’ve fallen on my feet like this.”

She says she’s the happiest girl alive, adding: “Meeting Craig was perfect timing.” But she says that he finds her career as the UK’s premium teen pop star rather funny.

“He laughs about what I do and finds it amusing. When we’re walking around Asda doing our weekly shop and somebody spots me he just giggles.”

Cher, famous for her snarl throughout last year’s X Factor competition, has a killer album on her hands with Sticks and Stones, and this week she releases her Mike Posner duet With UR Love. Off stage she is surprisingly honest and seems to have grown up from the brat she appeared to be last year.

She reveals: “Me and my dad have always said, ‘We had nothing before and we can cope with nothing now’.

“My life hasn’t changed too much yet with money and things. I’m a big believer in saving money. I won’t be going out and spending. I haven’t bought anything of worth. The first thing I want to do is buy a house. Not big. I just want a detached house with a front door, four windows and a chimney pot. That’s what I’ve always wanted.

“I like things to aim for and that’s the one I’m working for. I’ve never wanted anything handed to me on a plate.”

Cher’s been referred to as high maintenance in the past, and it’s clear she’s no pushover these days either. Not even Simon Cowell could push her around from the sounds of it.

“I would have told Simon or whoever to p**s off if they handed me 20 songs and said sing them for this album,” she says. “No way would I have done that.”

And if you’re American and reading this, then watch out. Because Cher has big plans for the US.

“America is something I’m going to do,” she smirks. “But I want to do well out there. I’ve got big dreams. Even though I’ve achieved this, there’s so much more I want to do.

“America is such a big thing to try and do. If I did try and do it I don’t want to be rejected. I want to be the one to succeed and make it work. I’m no Robbie Williams.”

And if anyone can do it, I reckon Cher has more of a chance than most.

Good luck, Trouble!
